Campus Party (CPEU4) Virtual Reality Challenge Announced

The Dutch VR Foundation VRNL, together with EUVR and the Web3D Consortium, is organizing a 48-hour VR-hackathon for 200 participants. The challenge begins on Thursday, May 26 at 1 PM and goes until Saturday evening. It ends in time for awards and the #CPEU4 after party.

Campus Party, (May 25 – 29 in Utrecht) provides a great environment for a virtual reality hackathon: Thousands of (mostly) young people will be there. They share a passion for innovation with new technology. Among the many challenges that will be offered at CPEU4 will be this VR-hackathon.

After decades of research, Virtual Reality is soon to be a real reality. Less expensive technology is transforming and disrupting the way we interact with computers, digital data & information, and (virtual) environments.

How can you register for the VR Challenge?

Who should attend?

You don't need to be a coder to participate in a hackathon or challenge. Anyone can attend. You can sign up as an individual or as group. Bring your own PC, tablet, smartphone, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift, Gear VR or cardboard. Bring other hardware, 360-degree cameras, audio-gear.....whatever you'll need to create.

For this challenge, we need storytellers, UX-designers, hardware geeks, and software coders. We need editors, makers, and developers. We need project managers and organizers. The one thing you should have in common is an enthusiasm for VR.

The Dutch VR Foundation VRNL, EUVR and the Web3D Consortium will provide a hacker space with a gigabit network and fast internet access.

There will be prizes

The organizing committee is working hard to define the themes and award categories for the hackathon. They are looking for coaches, jury members and sponsors.

There will be prizes for games, serious VR, open standards, and a lot more.
