Challenge: Moving makes you happy

Can you make people happy by developing (atr)active products?

Description
"Hi there Campusero!

Are you exercising enough throughout the day? And what about your father? And your grandmother?  At Springlab we believe that we can make everyone happy, by making them move! We develop and launch products that make it easy, fun and attractive to move. Examples of our products are: the Tovertafel: www.tovertafel.com and the standing meeting table www.UPQI.nl
In daily life we come across difficult health issues on many levels. Often these issues are a result of not being active. That is why we created 5 themes within Springlab:
Active Working, Active Aging, Active Gaming, Active Learning and Happy Biking. On thursday 26th of May at 13.00h until friday 27th of May at 13.00h, we will challenge you to solve issues on one of these themes, by making protoypes that can stimulate physical activity on a fun way! You can join a team or participate as an individual.

What’s in it for me?
For 12 hours, you will dive into the themes, make friends and hack issues. The expertise team of Springlab will take care of the rest! Think about food, drinks, hardware components, an active working atmosphere, fun activities, active and interesting workshops, prices, professional assistance and a lot of (very healthy) bananas!! Of course the best prototype is awarded by our expert jury.
You can win a full development plan made by Springlab with your input, including the steps you have to make to further develop the prototype into a market ready product. With this plan, Springlab can decide to invest in your product and realize the plans. Therefore, the further your idea is developed during Campus Party, the more likely it is that Springlab will invest! All this with the vision to make as much people as possible active and happy with your products!

Evaluation Criteria
The outcome after 12 hours of hacking should meet the following expectations:
1) It makes moving/sporting more fun and/or easier.
2) It isn`t known on the Dutch market yet
3) It will fit in a growth market;
4) It can prove itself in the field;
5) It is innovative;
6) It is profitable;
7) It will contribute to a healthier social environment.

Process information
"The “moving makes you happy” challenge hosted by Springlab consists of 4 phases.

Phase #1 Introduction
Jan-Paul de Beer, creative/social entrepreneur and director of Springlab will open the challenge and explain the mission and vision of Springlab. Shortly after, the hacking will begin by composing your team and choosing your theme.  To help you out, we made 5 theme boxes: Active Working, Active Aging, Active Gaming, Active Learning and Happy Biking!  Your first assignment during this challenge will be hacking one of these boxes, because all relevant information is inside. Why hacking? Because we think you will learn better when you are active!

Phase #2 Generate ideas
Campuseros with ideas, lets hack and build!
Campuseros with no ideas, let’s brainstorm!
Besides, there will be a workshope about creative and effective brainstorming. You can participate if you want and brainstorm with your team or just improve existing ideas with new insights.

Phase #3 Hack, Hack, Bananas, fun and hack
Choosing the best idea, followed by making some first prototypes and/or writing software! Our experts are walking by and you can shoot questions or ask for assistance. During the challenge you can do different types of relaxing and fun activities to get some inspiration or just to relax and reboot!

Phase #4 Pitch and plan
In this last phase you finish your best prototype and think about the next step.  What is your businessplan?! Besides, there will be a workshop on the side where Springlab will learn you how to make the best investment pitch and wich elements you should discuss in your businessplan. If you want to test your prototype or practice your pitch, experts will be there for you to give tips and tricks and improve your prototype.

At last you will pitch for our jury and you can visit and test other prototypes. Also the jury will decide who walks away with the prize!

During the challenge we would love to see all teams working together, because only then we can share knowledge!
Springlab facilitates an active working space with standing meeting tabels, deskbikes and more, so everybody can work comfortable in the Springlab area."

Expected result
Multiple prototypes and ideas that can make people happy by making them active.

Prizes
"You can win a full development plan made by Springlab with your input, including the steps that have to be made, to further develop the prototype into a market ready product. With this plan Springlab can decide to invest in your product and realize the plans. So, the further the idea is developed during Campus Party, the more likely it is that an investment will be made by Springlab!
